MMC: Solution or Hype
16th May 2023, 6 pm for 6.30 pm start
AluK Design Studio, 5-11 Worship Street, London, EC2A 2BH
Modern methods of construction (MMC) are universally acclaimed for their importance in improving productivity in construction. They are promoted as a route to transform the industry.
Offering factory-based levels of quality which are unachievable through traditional methods, are MMC a solution to the construction industry’s continuous skills crisis?
Join us as we discuss:
- Are the claims in favour of MMC justified?
- What can we learn from previous attempts at industrialisation?
- Have we become victims of a beguiling narrative of technological optimism?
Join LCEC to hear Professor Stuart Green of the University of Reading present his provocative critique of the current agenda.
